Collisions of N+2 ions on noble gas atoms II. Non-dissociative collisions at 0.3-3 keV

چکیده
2014 Scattering without dissociation of N+2 molecular ions by noble gas atom targets (Xe, Ar, He) is investigated. In the laboratory coordinate system, the collision energy ranges from .3 to 3 keV and the scattering angles from 0.8° to 7°. An energy loss analysis of the scattered N+2 ions shows several competitive processes: 2014 Elastic scattering and vibrational excitation. 2014 Electronic excitation of projectile and target. For the first of these processes our results are compared with the binary model proposed by V. I. Gerasimenko and J. D. Oksjuk, and T. A. Green. The different excitation processes are interpreted in the same way ; particularly the simultaneous electronic and vibrational excitations are investigated. During the collision molecule and target are considered as a quasi-molecule complex decaying into several channels via potential surface crossing. Direct excitations of He+ and Li++ ions by collisions with protons or antiprotons
The impact parameter formalism of the single-center close-coupling, first-, and second-order Born approximations have been applied to investigate direct excitations of Helium He+(2s) and Lithium Li++(2s) ions by colliding with protons or antiprotons. The total 3s, 3p, and 3d scaled excitation cross sections are calculated in the scaled impact energy region (2 to 1000 keV). The present work aims...
متن کاملDissociation of N2 in capture and ionization collisions with fast H + and N ions and modeling of positive ion formation in the Titan atmosphere
[1] Electron capture and ionization cross sections for protons and nitrogen ions incident on N2 are measured in the energy range 10–100 keV using time of flight (TOF) coincidence counting techniques. In the case of proton impact the formation of N2 + ions dominates for both electron capture and ionization channels at all energies, whereas for N ions, the N2 + formation dominates for electron ca...
متن کاملGas phase fragmentation of protonated betaine and its clusters.
Betaine [(CH(3))(3)N(+)CH(2)COO(-)] is a methylated version of glycine and is a zwitterion in its neutral form. In this work, we have subjected protonated betaine, (+)(CH(3))(3)NCH(2)COOH, to a range of fragmentation experiments which involve vibrational excitation, electronic excitation and electron capture. Low-energy (eV) collisions in combination with deuterium labelling reveal that the low...
متن کاملCollisions of rare gas ions with C60: Endohedral formation, energy transfer, and scattering dynamics
Scattering of rare gas cations from C60 has been studied in a guided-beam tandem mass spectrometer. Charge transfer ~CT! is observed to be the dominant channel over the collision energy range from 0 to 100 eV, but dissociative CT and endohedral complex formation are significant at high collision energies. The threshold energies for endohedral penetration are found to be proportional to rare gas...
